Lola Brooke: Upcoming Project, Meek Mill Collab, and Pen Sharpening

All In

Motivated after dropping her debut project, Lola Brooke is laser-focused.

New York City rapper Lola Brooke, a true Brooklyn native, brings a nostalgic vibe through her music. This was most evident on her debut project, Dennis Daughter, released last November. Her track “Don’t Play With It (Remix)” featuring Latto and Yung Miami earned her a BET award nomination and even a platinum plaque for the original version. As she continues to progress in her rap journey, Lola aims to show all facets of her artistry. Here, she opens up about future plans, her creative process, recent studio sessions with Meek Mill, and more.

What’s next for you?

Right now, I’m working on new music to show my fans the evolution of Lola Brooke.

How did the success of “Don’t Play With It” change your life?

It feels really good because I used to dream of being on stage and hearing the crowd sing my lyrics word-for-word. Now, as I experience that, I feel it doesn’t matter how long it takes, as long as you get to see the moment.

How do you savor these moments?

I stay in the studio. These moments happen because I keep creating music, whether I release it or not. Staying in the studio keeps my pen sharp.

What’s the vibe of your next project?

On this next project, I’m experimenting and showing that I’m not just an MC or rapper. I’m truly an artist. This project will highlight that aspect.

Why the experimental pivot?

I’m still pushing the “Don’t Play With It” vibes, but that’s not all I am. There’s much more to me. I want to reveal a different side of Lola, digging deep into my artist persona. I’ll still be rapping, but the goal is to keep being creative and elevate as an artist.

Can we expect a collaboration with Meek Mill?

Well, I have to say, I could give Meek a hard time because he shared a snippet of a song we did but haven’t released it. We’ve been in the studio together, so there’ll be more music. Sometimes, as artists, we create music just to sharpen our skills, even if it doesn’t get released.

What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to do that you can now since your success?

Taking care of my mom. Seeing her less stressed means everything to me. It makes me smile, and when she’s happy, I become even more driven. That’s what truly matters to me.
