Lower Decks Cast Tease Final Season Cameos and Favorite Episodes

The cast of Star Trek: Lower Decks are reminiscing about their favorite moments and cameos as the series nears its conclusion. The Paramount+ animated series, a spinoff of the beloved Star Trek franchise, focuses on the crew of the lesser-known Cerritos in the 24th century. After four entertaining seasons, the series will wrap up with Season 5, though fans still have some time before they have to bid farewell. Recently, the show’s cast and creator reflected on what makes the series special and shared the episodes they’re most excited for viewers to see.

ComicBook caught up with Star Trek: Lower Decks creator and showrunner Mike McMahan, along with actors Jerry O’Connell, Tawny Newsome, and Noël Wells at San Diego Comic-Con. They shared their thoughts on the episodes and moments they’ll cherish. When asked about the upcoming episodes, Jerry O’Connell highlighted the finale, describing it as “very emotional.” However, he remained tight-lipped about his character, Jack Ransom, suggesting fans will just have to watch to find out.

Tawny Newsome expressed her enthusiasm for the character development in the series. “I really love the Jennifer episode… I love the stuff [D’Vana] Tendi gets to do this season,” she said. Newsome praised the show for its unique contribution to Star Trek canon, especially regarding the Orion culture. “It really warms my heart the way this show… this 22-minute nonsense show… is the one that has advanced Orion canon so much,” she added, emphasizing the show’s impact on expanding the Star Trek universe.

Noël Wells also chimed in, particularly excited about how the new season kicks off. “I think the premiere sets up the season so well. From there, it’s really going to take off,” she said, suggesting that fans are in for an exciting journey as the series approaches its conclusion.

Showrunner Mike McMahan teased some unexpected cameos in the last season of Star Trek: Lower Decks. “There’s also some classic legacy cameos this season that are pretty bonkers,” he revealed. According to McMahan, they made a wish list of guest appearances, and many people wanted to join, making this season particularly special. “It was pretty wild. I was sure we weren’t going to get everyone, but you’ll see some familiar faces this season,” he added.

As Star Trek: Lower Decks heads towards its final season, the cast and crew seem both reflective and excited about the series’ impact and the storylines yet to unfold. With promises of emotional finales, intriguing character developments, and exciting cameos, fans have plenty to look forward to before the show bids its final adieu.
