Mama June Shannon Urged to Repay Honey Boo Boo on ‘Family Crisis’

Mama June Shannon found herself facing some tough questions in this week’s episode of Mama June: Family Crisis.

The July 12 episode highlighted the family’s struggle to regain normalcy after the passing of Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell. Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson was ready to revisit the matter of the $35,000 that Mama June still owed her.

Preparing for the upcoming school year, Alana called her sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird to discuss how to cover the expenses.

“I don’t really have the money for the rent and school in the fall,” Alana confided. “Is it too soon to bring it up to Mama?”

Pumpkin quickly assured Alana that it was more than appropriate to ask for the money back, considering it was for something significant.

“When Anna was sick, we all agreed to push all the family drama aside,” Pumpkin shared in a confessional. “But now that Anna has passed, it’s time for Alana to ask for the money back.”

Earlier in the episode, June had been served custody papers from Anna’s child’s father, Michael. Pumpkin believed that Mama June withholding the money could harm her case in court.

“Honestly, if Mama doesn’t give her the money back, it’s gonna be stupid,” Pumpkin argued. “You’ve already lost one kid, why lose another?”

Alana and Pumpkin agreed that June needed to face reality and revisit the discussion about the funds, though they were uncertain when to broach the subject.

“You know she’s got the money, be for real,” Alana commented.

“Well that’s where she’s still a piece of s—, so we’ll see,” Pumpkin responded.

Meanwhile, at June’s house, her marriage was experiencing turbulence. Her husband, Justin Stroud, urged her to return the money to Alana. However, June went ahead and bought a new dishwasher and planned a girls’ trip to Panama City.

“I know my wife is blind, but does she really think that I’m blind too and don’t see what’s going on?” Justin questioned to the cameras after seeing June hiding her phone while booking an expensive AirBnB. “I don’t wanna think that she’s being shady, but who the hell knows anymore.”

June called Pumpkin and Jessica Shannon to inform them of their planned vacation, initially suggested by Pumpkin to spread Anna’s ashes. The daughters were stunned that June would continue spending without addressing the financial issues first.

“Mama these days is just so out of touch with reality, it’s insane,” Pumpkin said. “She wants to fund this entire Florida trip to go down and spread Anna’s ashes, which I’m okay with, but it’s like, you must think that we forgot that you still owe Alana money.”

While not in favor of the trip, Pumpkin hoped it would provide Alana an opportunity to confront June about the money.

“Mama needs to get her head out of her ass and give her her money,” Jessica added.
