Man Regrets Sending Guns N’ Roses Song to Wife for Anniversary

A man finds himself in a tough spot after sending his wife a particular Guns N’ Roses song on their anniversary. The individual, known as Surgeon Michael on Reddit, shared on the platform that he “made a mistake” earlier this week during the celebration of their 14th wedding anniversary. If you’re a fan of Guns N’ Roses, you might already anticipate where this story is heading.

“There aren’t many specific ways to mark 14 years of marriage. I don’t listen to many GN’R albums anymore, but my brain reminded me of one called ’14 Years’,” he wrote in his post.

The track, which is a part of the band’s 1991 album Use Your Illusion II, features vocals from rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin alongside Axl Rose.

“So I sent that song on YouTube with no context to my wife, then started surgery thinking I had done something thoughtful. I didn’t quite recall the lyrics as well as I thought. She didn’t much care for the love song.”

For those who need a reminder, the chorus goes, “It’s been 14 years of silence / It’s been 14 years of pain / It’s been 14 years that are gone forever / That I’ll never have again.”

And the verses don’t improve the situation much.

He didn’t provide specifics on how his wife reacted, but considering he acknowledged the mistake in the post’s title, it’s safe to assume he’s indeed in the doghouse.

“It’s more like a breakup song after 14 years of pain,” a user responded to the post. Another suggested, “Now you need to send her ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ as damage control.”

Let’s hope he chooses a better song for their 15th anniversary.
