Freddie and Catherine coupled up on Love is Blind UK (Netflix)

Love Is Blind UK star Cat Richards has opened up about a dramatic moment during filming when she had to leave the set unexpectedly. In episode eight, during a mixer with the other participants, Cat received distressing news about a fire at her parents’ house.

The 30-year-old reality star joined her co-stars, Demi Brown, Sabrina Egerton, and Maria Benkh, to speak exclusively with HELLO! ahead of the show’s reunion episode. During the chat, Cat was eager to address some misconceptions.

“Yes, quite a few,” she admitted. “During the mixer, when my emotions seemed all over the place, it was because my parents’ house had caught on fire. I was pulled off set, and when I returned, I was very upset. That part wasn’t shown.”

Cat, who works as a dental nurse, also touched upon another topic of much discussion: the prenup. “I didn’t know what a prenup was,” she explained. “I actually agreed with Freddie and respected his decision regarding it. I think it’s the right thing. Unfortunately, that wasn’t fully shown, apart from my friends trying to explain it.”

“There’s a lot the viewers haven’t seen,” she added thoughtfully.

Cat also spoke about her connection with Freddie, whom she grew close to within the pods. The two made it up to their wedding day, but Freddie chose not to proceed with the marriage at the last moment. He felt there were still too many challenges ahead for them to fully commit.

Despite this, Cat had only positive things to say about Freddie. “From start to finish, I loved Freddie’s character and I still do,” she said. “I fell for his humorous, wild side. Due to the show’s intense nature, there were times when I wanted love and affection, and Freddie isn’t the type to always provide that. A lot happened off-camera that viewers didn’t get to see.”

Freddie shared similar sentiments with HELLO!. “I still have a lot of love for Cat,” the 32-year-old revealed. “We’re still friends and supportive of one another. It just wasn’t meant to be.”
