Margot Robbie’s Career Transformed After The Wolf Of Wall Street

At the after-party for the London premiere of “The Wolf of Wall Street,” Margot Robbie, her future husband Tom Ackerley, and their friends Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr made a pivotal decision. They decided to move in together, a choice that not only shaped Robbie’s romantic future with Ackerley, but also propelled her into a new career path beyond acting: producing.

The years that followed “The Wolf of Wall Street” were successful for Robbie’s acting career, but she felt creatively restricted by the roles she was offered. Many of them were similar to her character Naomi from the film. Although she was just 24 years old at the time, Robbie was eager to create opportunities for stronger female roles. As McNamara explained to Variety, “She was at a place in her career where she had the ability to set up a company, and wanted to support other female creatives and give them the platform she was getting herself.”

Thus, Robbie, Ackerley, McNamara, and Kerr founded the production company LuckyChap Entertainment. This company has been the primary vehicle for films led by Robbie, such as “I, Tonya,” “Birds of Prey,” and “Barbie.” Beyond these, LuckyChap also produced notable films like “Promising Young Woman” and “Saltburn.” The company has been crucial in putting more women in front of the camera while also promoting roles for women behind it as directors, writers, and crew members.
