Billionaire Mark Cuban has voiced strong support for Kamala Harris following the Democratic National Convention, suggesting she is reshaping the Democratic Party.

Mark Cuban has shared his thoughts on the ideal qualities he seeks in a president, stating his preference for an open-minded leader who is not limited by rigid ideologies. This week’s Democratic National Convention appears to have reinforced Kamala Harris’s position as Cuban’s preferred candidate.

After the four-day convention in Chicago, Cuban took to social media to express his admiration for the Democratic nominee. He highlighted her commitment to lifting America’s middle class, particularly through support for small business owners and entrepreneurs. Cuban also emphasized her focus on reducing costs related to healthcare, groceries, and housing.

In a post on X, Cuban remarked, “Talking to stakeholders is the first step towards understanding what makes the economy work or not work, from pricing to growth.” He described Harris as “pro-business,” stating, “She is her own person. She is not an ideologue.”

Cuban was among the early supporters of Harris after President Joe Biden suspended his campaign on July 21. He has officially joined a group of venture capitalists backing the Vice President, which has garnered 820 signatures to date.

The billionaire entrepreneur has praised several of Harris’s economic initiatives, including proposals for subsidies benefiting first-time homeowners and a federal ban on price-gouging. He has also expressed appreciation for her advocacy on healthcare transparency and cryptocurrency regulation, highlighting his personal interests in both areas through his online pharmacy business and digital asset investments.

While Cuban acknowledges that details are crucial in policymaking, he has expressed optimistic sentiments about Harris’s proposals, stating, “Of course the devil’s in the details. But so far I like what I’ve heard.”

When comparing Harris to her Republican opponent Donald Trump, Cuban sees significant differences. He pointed out that Harris is self-aware and understands her limits, emphasizing her willingness to engage with a range of business perspectives, from small yogurt shops to major corporations.

Cuban has defended Harris against critics who argue that her economic agenda lacks specificity. He pointed out that Trump, too, has yet to roll out comprehensive policy plans. Responding to concerns on X, he stated, “We get to wait for her policy details like we wait for Trump’s policy details. The difference is that she is 4 weeks in. Trump announced when?”

Although both candidates have yet to provide detailed economic agendas, Cuban seems more compelled by Harris’s messaging. He underscored key moments from her DNC speech, particularly where she discussed collaboration between employees and small businesses while addressing the vague nature of Trump’s inflation strategy.

In a Wednesday speech, Trump proposed an executive order requiring every cabinet secretary and agency head to utilize their available resources to combat inflation and bring down consumer prices rapidly. Cuban critiqued this approach on X, commenting, “What voters hear: He will instruct a bunch of unnamed bureaucrats and their agencies to defeat inflation in 100 days.”

Following up his defense of Harris, Cuban initiated a poll on X, asking users to choose between two statements: “Talk2 Gov Bureaucrats,” related to Trump’s stance, or “Talk2 Business people,” reflecting Harris’s approach.

After the convention, Cuban expressed his belief that Harris is reshaping the Democratic Party. He stated, “Kamala Harris is not falling in line with Democratic Party Policies. Kamala Harris is defining her own policies, and the Democratic Party is falling in line with her. She literally is redefining the party.”
