Mark Wahlberg Shares His Family’s Reaction to His Bald Look for ‘Flight Risk’

Mark Wahlberg recently shared a funny moment about his new bald look for the upcoming movie, Flight Risk. During an interview at the premiere of his new film, The Union, the actor recounted how his wife, Rhea Durham, and their daughter reacted to his dramatic change.

Wahlberg, 53, who is a father to Ella (20), Michael (18), Brendan (15), and Grace (14), described the reveal as one of the most fun moments he’s had. Without hinting at his new appearance, he walked in wearing a hat. When he took it off, his family had a hilarious reaction, diving under the covers, screaming and yelling. They humorously questioned why he didn’t opt for a wig instead.

Despite their initial shock, Wahlberg mentioned that his wife eventually grew comfortable with his shaved head once she got used to it.

The actor surprised fans back in July when he shared a photo from the set of Flight Risk, where he sported a partially-shaved head for his role as a pilot transporting an FBI informant. The movie, releasing on October 18, features Michelle Dockery from Downton Abbey as the FBI agent and Topher Grace, known for That ’70s Show, as the informant.

Wahlberg confirmed then that his shaved head wasn’t a result of using prosthetics. He shared a caption that read, “No bald cap for me😎😂 we go all in @flightriskmovie October 18th 🤬😳🤣,” emphasizing his commitment to the role.

Paul Walter Hauser, an Emmy Award winner from Black Bird, even joked in the comments about Wahlberg’s look, calling it the “REAL Mark” while poking fun at the actor’s appearance.

At the premiere of The Union, Wahlberg looked different, sporting a full head of hair and posing with his family. He humorously shared that his kids were eager to leave the event, having already seen the movie. According to him, they were practically threatened with punishment just to take a family picture.

This allowed some alone time with his wife, Rhea, especially as they recently celebrated 15 years of marriage on August 1. Wahlberg shared that their date nights remain quite simple and cherished. Whether it’s a movie, meal, or spending time at church, they always find ways to enjoy time together.

Wahlberg and Durham have been together for over two decades, starting their relationship back in 2001. Their enduring bond is evident in their public appearances and shared moments.

The new film The Union, which stars Wahlberg alongside Halle Berry and J.K. Simmons, follows a construction worker from New Jersey who is recruited by his past high school love to undertake a unique espionage mission. Wahlberg’s character dives into the world of espionage for a thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

The Union will be available on Netflix worldwide starting August 16. Fans can look forward to seeing Wahlberg’s dynamic performances in both The Union and Flight Risk this year.
