One of the biggest summer blockbusters will be leaning on some country music stylings. No, I’m not talking about the new Twister reboot, which basically has a country music all-star soundtrack featuring the likes of Luke Combs, Tyler Childers, Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, and many more gigantic names who have all made new music specifically for the film. We thought there were some songs that they definitely could have included, but regardless, it’s a jam-packed country music soundtrack.

Besides Twister, the other big-time movie that everyone has been looking forward to this summer is Marvel’s Deadpool and Wolverine, which is set to hit theaters on July 26th. The film is the third in the Deadpool franchise and is the first R-rated movie that Marvel has ever put out. It will also feature the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, after it was assumed he hung up his iconic claws with 2017’s Logan.

There’s a lot riding on the film, speaking in Marvel Cinematic Universe terms, and from the flurry of trailers and expansive promotional ventures they’ve done ahead of the movie’s release, it looks like the superhero team-up will be a lot of fun. Personally, I’m counting down the days until this one comes out, especially now that the soundtrack has been released ahead of the movie. It appears that two country music icons will be featured in the film.

Marvel movies have always had incredible soundtracks since the release of the first Guardians of the Galaxy. The songs chosen for these big screen comic book adaptations are often just as important as the main characters themselves. It appears that trend will continue with this movie that’s set to “Save the MCU.” They were smart enough to include “I’m A Ramblin’ Man” by Waylon Jennings and “You Belong To Me” by Patsy Cline. Though Cline’s song is from her era when she moved from country to pop, we’ll still claim her as a country artist. Jennings’ track that is included is about as country as it gets.

Also, notice that the soundtrack is set to feature “The Greatest Show,” which is from the 2017 musical movie The Greatest Showman that Hugh Jackman starred in. It should be funny to see how they fit that one into the film, but it’s not surprising with how meta (and in love with Hugh Jackman) the Deadpool films tend to be. So go ahead and plan your Deadpool and Wolverine viewing so you can take in two great songs from two iconic artists. I’ll be excited to see how they work them into the adventures of a comic-book-accurate-suited Wolverine and the Merc with a Mouth.
