Matt Damon Comments on Ben Affleck Amid J.Lo Divorce Rumors

Matt Damon has shared a rare insight about his longtime friend Ben Affleck amid swirling rumors about Affleck’s marriage troubles.

Damon and Affleck have been friends for decades, rising to fame together by writing and co-starring in the Oscar-winning film Good Will Hunting in 1997.

While Damon has mostly kept a low profile, Affleck has frequently been in the spotlight due to various personal issues including divorce, rumors of infidelity, and struggles with addiction. Recently, his very public reunion and subsequent marriage to Jennifer Lopez have been the subject of much media attention, and there are now reports suggesting the couple may be heading for another split.

The rekindled relationship and marriage between Affleck and Lopez have inspired an album, a movie, and a documentary by Lopez, but new reports indicate that the couple might be facing serious challenges once again.

In an interview on the Radio Times podcast promoting his new film The Instigators, in which he stars alongside Ben’s brother Casey Affleck, Damon reflected on the difference in their public scrutiny.

“Twenty-five years ago, the gossip magazine culture was huge but they ignored me,” Damon said. “I wasn’t an exciting story; the guy who’s married, it’s boring! Scandal and sex, that’s what people would read magazines for. I’ve been really lucky.”

He added, “Especially when I look at Casey’s brother, Ben. We’ve had parallel careers in a lot of ways, but I can’t imagine living under that scrutiny for 25 years.”

Damon, who has been married to Luciana Barroso for 19 years, shares four daughters with her, and the family has largely stayed out of the public eye.

The Martian star also spoke about his rise to fame after leaving university. “I kept getting jobs while I was at school that meant I’d have to leave. Technically, I think I’m still on an extended leave of absence – so I could go back and finish my senior year,” he joked.

“By the time I left, my class had graduated, my social circle had gone. A few years later, Good Will Hunting happened, and I was getting paid as a professional writer. So, I thought, why go back and get my English degree?”

Meanwhile, multiple reports suggest that Lopez and Affleck are experiencing “issues” in their marriage. Some sources even claim that the Gone Girl star has moved out of their $60 million Beverly Hills home.

Though the couple has yet to publicly address these rumors, the speculation has persisted, especially considering they haven’t been photographed together for two months.
