Matthew Lillard Hosts a Halloween Baking Show

Horror studio Blumhouse is diving into the realm of Halloween-themed baking shows. Prime Video announced it has greenlit “Killer Cakes,” a horror-flavored baking competition special. This show is crafted by executive producer Jason Blum, known for his work on “M3GAN” and the “Insidious” series, alongside the creators of “Cake Boss,” High Noon Entertainment. Hosting this gory delight is horror veteran Matthew Lillard, famed for his roles in the 1996 film “Scream” and the 2023 release “Five Nights at Freddy’s.” Judges include Scream Queen Danielle Harris, recognized from the “Halloween” franchise, and Nikk Alcaraz, an experimental food artist and cookbook author noted for “Peculiar Baking.”

The two-part special premieres on Prime Video on October 8 and will be available in over 240 countries and territories. “Killer Cakes” is a unique competition where bakers with a knack for the macabre will partake in terrifyingly creative challenges. Contestants will collaborate with top horror special effects artists in Hollywood to bring their nightmarish cake designs to life. Expect cakes that are not just revolting, but disturbingly realistic.

Showrunner Ruth Amsel, who has previously executive produced shows like Food Network’s “Halloween Wars,” “Cake Wars,” “Ridiculous Cakes,” “Outrageous Pumpkins,” and “Stab That Cake,” leads the production. Jason Blum and Gretchen Palek will executive produce for Blumhouse Television, which is behind the TV series “The Purge,” “Sharp Objects,” and “The Horror of Dolores Roach,” as well as true crime series “Worst Ex Ever” and “Cabin in the Woods.” Scott Feely from High Noon Entertainment will also serve as an executive producer.
