Maude Apatow Shines as a Cat Lover in New Tory Burch Campaign

Count me in if being a “miserable childless cat lady,” as JD Vance puts it, looks this stylish.

Tory Burch has joined the cat discussion with a fresh, feline-themed collection, available today and featuring Maude Apatow, a self-acknowledged “cat lady.” Named “Animal House,” this limited-edition capsule presents many of the New York brand’s iconic pieces, including the Kira Shoulder Bag and Miller t-strap sandals, which now boast the well-known black-and-white photo “Cat” (1996) by German portrait photographer Walter Schels.

“There’s a human element to Walter’s photographs, in the way he looks at the animals, and they, in turn, look back,” Tory Burch told HighSnobiety regarding Schels’ work. “He gives animals the same respect as humans, highlighting their unique personalities and emotions.”

The campaign, featuring Apatow along with her cat Dolly, was captured by photographer Ellen Fedors. “The hardest part was separating Dolly from [the bodega cat] Lucie,” Maude explained to HighSnobiety about the shoot. “They kept wanting to hang out, but Dolly was on the clock!”

“Animal House” is part of Tory Burch’s Resort 2024 collection. Besides their renowned bags and shoes, this lineup also includes summer swimwear, sandals, clogs, and dresses.

Starting today, the entire collection is available for shopping on the Tory Burch website. For those in New York, the limited-edition pieces can be explored in person. The brand is holding a pop-up at their SoHo store from Aug. 16-18, where visitors can browse the collection and then visit the neighboring Casa Magazines, where the campaign was shot.
