Maxie Solters, Publicist, Writer, and Actor, Dies at 37

Maxie Solters, a celebrated publicist, writer, actor, and producer well-known within the entertainment industry, passed away unexpectedly last Thursday. She was 37 years old, and no cause of death has been disclosed.

Born in 1987 and raised in Sherman Oaks, California, Solters graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in Theatre. Post-graduation, she began her career in film and television casting and served as a coordinator for One Billion Rising, a nonprofit dedicated to ending violence against women and others vulnerable to gender-based violence. She appeared in numerous productions and created, produced, and starred in her own comedy web series.

In 2012, she became the third generation in her family to join the field of public relations, following in the footsteps of her father, Larry, and late grandfather, Lee. At Scoop Marketing, her clients included prestigious entities like the Kia Forum, the Hollywood Bowl, and Music Forward, among many others. Solters was also deeply involved with V-Day International and women’s rights activism.

Her surviving family includes her father, Larry, and his partner, Carol Greenhut; her mother, Debra Graff; her aunt, Susan Reynolds; her cousin, Jonah Reynolds; her longtime partner, Dim Dobrin; and her beloved dog, Pookie (pictured above).

A celebration of her life is being planned. Instead of flowers, the family encourages donations in Maxie’s name to One Billion Rising.

According to its website, One Billion Rising is the largest mass action to end violence against women—whether cisgender, transgender, or those with fluid identities subjected to gender-based violence—in human history. The campaign was launched on Valentine’s Day 2012 as a call to action, rooted in the alarming statistic that one in three women on the planet will experience violence or rape during her lifetime. With a world population of 7 billion, this translates to over one billion women and girls.
