MaXXXine Announced for Physical Media Release Date

The Mia Goth-starring “MaXXXine,” which debuted in theaters back in July and became available digitally earlier this month, now has a physical media release date. The Ti West-directed trilogy, which started with “X” and “Pearl” in 2022, has garnered significant fan interest. This is due not only to the compelling themes and subject matter of each installment but also because the first two films were crafted while adhering to COVID health and safety protocols. Given these challenges, their success is even more impressive. “MaXXXine” will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 8th.

The film is set in 1980s Hollywood and follows adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx, who finally gets her big break. However, her rise to fame is threatened by a mysterious killer stalking Hollywood starlets, potentially exposing her dark past. The movie boasts a star-studded cast that includes Mia Goth, Kevin Bacon, Elizabeth Debicki, Giancarlo Esposito, Halsey, Lily Collins, Michelle Monaghan, and Moses Sumney.

The physical media release also features several special extras:

  • The Belly of the Beast
  • XXX Marks the Spot
  • Hollywood Is a Killer
  • Q&A with Writer-Director Ti West
  • Teaser Trailer
  • Theatrical Trailer

Before the release of “X,” Ti West was already a well-known name in indie horror, thanks to his work on films like “The House of the Devil,” “The Innkeepers,” and “The Sacrament.” Fans were excited to see his return to the genre. West surprised fans at the world premiere of “X” by revealing he had also filmed the prequel, “Pearl.” Shortly before “Pearl” hit theaters, “MaXXXine” was announced, seemingly bringing the narrative to a conclusion.

There has been much speculation among fans regarding whether this series has truly come to an end. West previously hinted that this might be the best point to conclude this cinematic world. In an earlier interview with “Variety,” he explained, “Making a movie is, at best, two years of trauma, so we’re just figuring out a story worth enduring that. I’m very grateful to A24. I’m very proud of these three movies.”

He continued, “It feels like a good place to stop, but I do have ideas of how to continue this ‘universe,’ or whatever you want to call it. But in about two weeks, I will wake up for the very first time not thinking about something related to these movies. Then, the movie is done, it’s out, and I’m off to the next thing.” West added, “If that brings me back around to ‘X’, great. But if it brings me to something else, that’s fine too. So, we’ll see.”

“MaXXXine” lands on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 8th.
