Meet Kira Kosarin, the Newest Cast Member of ‘That ’90s Show’

That ’90s Show has finally brought back Betsy Kelso, and it’s time to get acquainted with the actress portraying the character. On That ’70s Show, Michael Kelso, played by Ashton Kutcher, had a baby with Brooke Rockwell, played by Shannon Elizabeth, in Season 7. While Jay, Kelso’s son with Jackie, appeared in That ’90s Show, Betsy was not mentioned much until Part 3. Her grand return happened in Part 3, Episode 3, “Achy Breaky Heart.”

Kira Kosarin breathes life into Betsy Kelso, who ends up in a romantic entanglement with a heartbroken Nate, causing tension in his friendship with Jay. Betsy’s inclusion as a grown-up character has been highly anticipated, and she has become a significant part of the new episodes of That ’90s Show. But who exactly is Kira Kosarin?

Fans who watched Nickelodeon in the mid-2010s know Kosarin well. The 26-year-old actress had her big break with the superhero comedy The Thundermans, which ran from 2013 to 2018 for four seasons. The show focused on a family of superheroes attempting to live an ordinary life in the town of Hiddenville. Kosarin portrayed Phoebe Thunderman, a character aiming to become a superhero with powers like telekinesis, freeze breath, and heat breath.

Kosarin reprised the role in a special crossover event with The Haunted Hathaways in 2014 and Henry Danger in 2016. This year, she returned to the iconic role for the Nickelodeon and Paramount+ film The Thundermans Return. She will also star in a brand new spinoff alongside Thundermans co-stars Jack Griffo and Maya Le Clark. Other Nickelodeon projects she appeared in include The Tiny Chef Show, Welcome to the Wayne, Knight Squad, School of Rock, and One Crazy Cruise.

Beyond Nickelodeon, Kosarin’s credits include Supercool, Light as a Feather, Betch, Good Trouble, All About the Washingtons, Astrid Clover, Shake It Up, and Love Daily, among others. However, acting isn’t her only talent. Over the last several years, Kosarin has been releasing music. Her debut album, Off Brand, came out in 2019, followed by EPs Songbird and Something New in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

Kira Kosarin’s addition to That ’90s Show has been warmly received, particularly since she plays a character fans have eagerly awaited. Currently, it’s uncertain if the series will return for another season, but if it does, viewers can only hope Betsy Kelso makes yet another appearance.
