Meet Sam M.: Motorcycle-Riding, Dog-Loving ‘Bachelorette’ Star and Jenn’s First-Impression Winner

Jenn Tran’s season of “The Bachelorette” has just kicked off, and she’s already forming connections with the men eager to win her heart. Sam McKinney, one of the 25 contestants, quickly impressed Jenn upon his arrival. By the end of the first night, Jenn awarded him the first impression rose.

Sam, a 27-year-old general contractor from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, stood out from the start. He comes from a large family with five children and attended Socastee High School, where he was active in football, baseball, and wrestling. Post-high school, he pursued his education at Wofford College.

Outside his professional life, according to his bio on ABC’s website, Sam enjoys riding motorcycles, golfing, and watching “Sons of Anarchy.” His Instagram profile also indicates that he’s a dog lover. Sam had been single for almost a year before joining the show.

During the season premiere, Sam opened up about his past, sharing that he had experienced significant heartbreak when his fiancée, whom he had known since middle school, cheated on him. “That was definitely the biggest heartbreak I’ve ever experienced,” he admitted

Despite this setback, Sam remains resolute in his dream of becoming a husband and father.

Sam didn’t stage an extravagant limo entrance, but Jenn was immediately captivated by his looks and “Southern charm.” Their first one-on-one conversation of the evening revealed mutual values in dating. Both prioritize being intentional and vulnerable in their relationships.

“Sam M. makes me feel excited,” Jenn described. “There’s an undeniable connection and I don’t know what it is. I’m looking at how hot he is, and I definitely want to kiss him, but it just doesn’t feel right in that moment.” she explained.

After mingling with the other contestants, Jenn decided to give her first impression rose to Sam. She couldn’t stop thinking about him throughout the night. When she handed him the rose, they shared a passionate kiss, solidifying her confidence in her choice. “I feel like I’m floating on cloud nine,” Jenn beamed. “This kiss is feral. The kiss was really, really good. I feel like I made the right decision in waiting because this was the kiss that had been building up all night. Definitely worth the wait.”
