Meet the Iowa Man Competing on the First Ever ‘Golden Bachelorette’

‘The Bachelor’ has captivated audiences for many years. The franchise eventually expanded to include ‘The Bachelorette’ and is now introducing a new edition for senior citizens.

Last year, ‘The Golden Bachelor’ premiered with Gerry Turner as its star. Next month, the franchise will debut ‘The Golden Bachelorette,’ featuring Joan Vassos, who initially appeared on ‘The Golden Bachelor’.

All the men competing for Joan’s affection have been announced, including one contestant from Iowa. Let’s get to know them better.

Joan Vassos’s journey on ‘The Golden Bachelor’ was cut short. People magazine reported that she decided to leave the show during the third week to focus on her family. On Instagram, she explained her choice, saying, “Family comes first, period. Once a mother, always a mother, I’ll always choose my kids first.”

Joan, now 61, was married to her late husband, John, for 32 years until his passing from pancreatic cancer in January 2021.

With ‘The Golden Bachelorette,’ Joan is ready to find someone new to share her life with.

One of the contestants vying for Joan’s heart is Jonathan, also 61, from Oakland, Iowa. Jonathan works as a shipping consultant and Entertainment Weekly notes that he once considered becoming a bodybuilder.

‘The Golden Bachelorette’ premieres on Wednesday, September 18th at 7 PM on ABC.
