Merritt Wever and Leslie Uggams Join ‘Gilded Age’ Season 3 Cast

Aug. 12 (UPI) — The Gilded Age will introduce eight new characters in its upcoming Season 3.

The series, created by Julian Fellowes of Downton Abbey fame, is set against the backdrop of New York City’s high society during the late 1800s.

Bill Camp, known for his role in Presumed Innocent, has joined the cast as JP Morgan. Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie) will portray Monica O’Brien, who has a strained relationship with her sister, Bertha, played by Carrie Coon.

Leslie Uggams, a Tony and Emmy Award winner, will appear as Mrs. Ernestine Brown. New cast members also include Lisagay Hamilton, Andrea Martin, Paul Alexander Nolan, Hattie Morgan, and Jessica Frances Dukes.

Coon, who has been filming for Season 3 of The White Lotus, revealed to Vanity Fair that she managed her schedule to accommodate shooting for The Gilded Age Season 3 as well.

“The fact that both shows are on HBO definitely worked in my favor, because everyone’s incentivized to make sure everything works out,” Coon explained.

HBO has yet to announce an official release date for Season 3. However, Max has teased that the new season will be part of the 2024-2025 television lineup.

Cynthia Nixon, Christine Baranski, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denée Benton, Taissa Farmiga, Blake Ritson, Simon Jones, Harry Richardson, Thomas Cocquerel, and Jack Gilpin are also part of the series’ ensemble cast.
