Dexter fans have a lot to buzz about lately. Over the weekend, Michael C. Hall, the original Dexter Morgan actor, attended San Diego Comic-Con and participated in a panel for “Dexter: Original Sin,” alongside his prequel series replacement, Patrick Gibson. The duo even took some side-by-side photos that have since made the rounds among fans.
During the panel, it was announced that Hall will narrate the inner voice of a young Dexter, played by Gibson, in “Dexter: Original Sin.” Set in 1991 Miami, the series follows Dexter’s journey from student to avenging serial killer. As his bloodthirsty urges become undeniable, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness.
Under the mentorship of his father, Harry (Christian Slater), Dexter adopts a Code to help him find and eliminate individuals who deserve to be removed from society, all while avoiding the scrutiny of law enforcement. This becomes particularly challenging as Dexter starts a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
Originally premiering in the fall of 2006, “Dexter” ran for eight seasons and gained a massive fanbase, eventually becoming a cult classic. By the end of its run, it was the number one Showtime original series. In 2021, a limited sequel series titled “Dexter: New Blood” debuted and quickly became Showtime’s most-watched and most-streamed original series ever.
In addition to “Dexter: Original Sin,” Hall will once again reprise his role as Dexter in “Dexter: Resurrection,” set in the present day. “Dexter: Original Sin” premieres in December 2024, while “Dexter: Resurrection” is slated to launch in the summer of 2025.
All previous seasons of “Dexter” and “Dexter: New Blood” are available for streaming on Paramount+ with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan.
