Michael Madsen Seeks Divorce and Restraining Order from DeAnna After Arrest

Michael Madsen, the well-known actor, has decided to end his 28-year marriage to DeAnna Madsen following significant legal challenges. Madsen officially filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court, as detailed in documents obtained.

Accusations of “irreconcilable differences” were cited as the primary reason for the split. The couple, who have faced ongoing turmoil since the tragic suicide of their son Hudson in January 2022, has been living separately. Hudson was 26 at the time of his passing.

In the divorce petition, Madsen’s claims go beyond typical disputes; he alleges a history of abuse perpetrated by DeAnna, asserting that she played a role in their son’s death. Furthermore, he states that his recent arrest stemmed from DeAnna’s alleged trespassing.

Michael Madsen’s attorney, Perry C. Wander, expressed that Madsen is looking forward to focusing on his children and his career in acting and poetry writing, now that he is no longer in a “toxic, abusive” environment.

As part of the divorce proceedings, Madsen is seeking to deny any spousal support to DeAnna and wishes to terminate her claims to his pension. The division of their shared property will be decided at a later time.

Additionally, Madsen has taken steps to protect himself, filing for a restraining order against DeAnna, citing concerns for his safety amidst their separation.

This marriage to DeAnna marks Madsen’s third. He was previously married to Georganne LaPiere and Jeannine Bisignano, with whom he has children, including Calvin, Luke, and the late Hudson. From his marriage to Bisignano, he shares two additional sons, Christian and Max.

In the filing for the restraining order, Madsen has detailed various incidents of physical and verbal abuse. He specifically cited an event on August 17 when he accuses DeAnna of breaking into his home, which ultimately led to his arrest for domestic violence.

Authorities were allegedly called to Madsen’s residence as the situation escalated. Following this incident, he was arrested and booked for domestic battery, a misdemeanor charge, and later released after posting a $20,000 bond. Madsen claims the charge was eventually dismissed.

Madsen described himself as a victim of an “abusive, co-dependent, and toxic relationship,” illustrating the severity of the situation. He made a poignant remark about how the consequences of such incidents often lead to a definitive end to relationships.

In a public statement regarding the ongoing issues, DeAnna Madsen stated that Michael is facing numerous personal challenges and emphasized that she, along with their children, has been attempting to support him through these difficulties. She requested privacy for their family during this turbulent time.

Concern for his safety and that of his 18-year-old son Luke is a significant part of Madsen’s reasoning behind the restraining order. He mentioned being “deeply concerned” for their well-being, especially in light of the tragic death of Hudson.

Allegations in the divorce petition further assert that DeAnna’s actions and lifestyle contributed negatively to Hudson’s mental health, with claims about her drinking and neglect being highlighted by Madsen.

Should the courts grant the restraining order, it would impose several restrictions on DeAnna, including prohibiting contact with Madsen or their son, maintaining a distance of at least 300 feet from Madsen’s residence, vehicle, and workplace, and completing a 52-week batterer intervention program.

A hearing to address Madsen’s case is set for October 9.
