Michelle Mendelovitz Leaves Role as Head of Mattel Television Studios

EXCLUSIVE: Michelle Mendelovitz has stepped down as Head of Mattel Television Studios after nine months on the job. A representative for the toy maker confirmed Mendelovitz’s departure but declined to provide further comments. According to sources, the role will be refilled.

Mendelovitz joined Mattel in late 2023 following the blockbuster success of the company’s Warner Bros. movie Barbie. During her tenure, she oversaw Mattel’s slate of episodic content for both broadcast and streaming platforms. One notable project she was involved in is the new Barney the Dinosaur animated series for Max and Cartoon Network, which was announced in May. Her time at Mattel coincided with a challenging TV marketplace characterized by consolidation.

Prior to joining Mattel, Mendelovitz served as an Executive Producer at Hiddenlight Productions, collaborating with Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton to develop scripted projects for the company’s original slate.

She also held the position of SVP, Head of Drama Development, at 20th Television and worked as a Senior Creative Executive for Scripted & Unscripted Programming at Apple. Mendelovitz’s resume includes a stint as VP, Scripted Programming (Drama & Comedy) at Sony Pictures Television.
