Moms for Liberty Laugh as Trump Mockingly Imitates Ally Elon Musk

Former President Donald Trump entertained an audience at the Moms for Liberty summit in Washington, D.C., with a light-hearted jab at Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and his recent ally in the political arena.

During the event, held on Friday night, Trump addressed an organization that has been vocal in its efforts to eliminate discussions about LGBT+ identities and structural racism from educational curricula across the nation.

In his wide-ranging remarks, the Republican candidate took a strong stance against transgender individuals competing in women’s sports and advocated for more stringent restrictions on access to gender-affirming healthcare. In a rather exaggerated claim, he also stated that his daughter, Ivanka Trump, hired “millions of people” throughout his presidency.

The conversation segued into Musk, where Trump dubbed him a “super genius.” He playfully mocked Musk’s ventures into space travel and even mimicked the tech magnate’s tone and mannerisms.

“With Elon, it’s like, ‘Well, you know, I’m doing a new stainless steel hub that can get us around the engines much quicker because there’s a problem with the type of engine going into space nowadays,’” Trump remarked, attempting to imitate Musk’s distinctive voice. This humorous portrayal elicited laughter from the predominantly right-wing audience.

Trump’s comments connected to Musk’s activities with SpaceX, the aerospace manufacturer founded by Musk in 2002. His playful roasting of Musk comes at a time when the tech entrepreneur has increasingly supported Trump politically.

Following an assassination attempt on Trump in mid-July, Musk expressed his backing for Trump’s 2024 presidential bid. He later hosted a live interview with Trump on the social media platform X, during which they both aired grievances.

During that conversation, Trump used the platform to blame President Joe Biden for the multitude of legal issues confronting him. Meanwhile, Musk lamented how the media has characterized him as a “far-right guy” in today’s political landscape. He found this label “absurd,” noting, “I’m, like, making electric vehicles.” Musk also shared that he once stood in line for hours just to shake President Obama’s hand when he was in office.

It’s noteworthy that while Musk has rallied behind Trump this election cycle, he previously expressed reservations about Trump in 2016, indicating that he was “not the right guy” for the presidency. Musk had cited concerns regarding Trump’s character, suggesting it did not reflect well on the United States.
