Montana Jordan is sharing new insights about Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and its impact on his character.

Speaking with ET’s Deidre Behar from the orange carpet of the 2024 Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, the 21-year-old actor revealed exciting details about the anticipated Young Sheldon spinoff and where it picks up for his character, Georgie Cooper, following the death of his father.

“You’re going to find them two months after Young Sheldon ended,” the Texas native disclosed. “They’re still mourning the loss of George [Sr.] dying and so you’re going to get to see Georgie become the man of the household.”

The final episodes of Young Sheldon featured a shocking loss as the Cooper family patriarch, George Sr. (played by Lance Barber), passed away from a heart attack. This left his three children—George Jr. (Jordan), Sheldon (Iain Armitage), and Missy (Raegan Revord)—and his wife, Mary (Zoe Perry), to cope with the sudden void.

Jordan explained that the new show follows Georgie and his wife, Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment), as they navigate the challenges of their marriage. It will explore the ups and downs of their relationship and the early stages of parenthood in a comedy filled with contrasts.

He added that while the show will keep the humor light for the live studio audience, reflecting back to The Big Bang Theory roots under executive producer Chuck Lorre, it won’t shy away from depicting the struggles young parents face.

In June, ET caught up with Osment at the Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas. She admitted she hadn’t read any scripts at that point but relayed, “I assume it starts right where we left off, so there isn’t too big of a gap for our viewers.” Osment also mentioned they were still in the pre-production phase.

Just before hitting the Kids’ Choice Awards, Jordan attended a Television Critics Association event with Osment, where it was confirmed the show will feature plenty of guest stars. Perry, Revord, and Annie Potts (Georgie’s grandmother) are all set to make appearances.

On the orange carpet, Jordan excitedly shared, “Well, who we have right now – and I can tell you this without getting fired – is Mrs. Zoe Perry, Ms. Annie Potts, and Ms. Raegan Revord.”

Interestingly, Jordan revealed he had to audition for his role in the spinoff. He humorously made sure his on-screen family members did the same. “I did my own audition, so I got them to audition for it this time,” Jordan told ET, adding, “They all did great, so they got the part.”

Executive producer Chuck Lorre, along with Steven Molaro and Steve Holland, kept details on how and when these key female characters will appear under wraps. Nevertheless, they promised each appearance would significantly impact the storyline in season one.

Additionally, the show will feature Rachel Bay Jones and Will Sasso as Mandy’s parents, Audrey and Will, who are doubtful about Mandy’s relationship with Georgie.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage premieres on October 17 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
