‘Mormon Wives’ Secret Lives Tease Swinging Sex Scandal — Watch Now

In less than a month, the Mormon “soft swinging” sex scandal that captivated TikTok will finally be documented in the new Hulu reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives – and the official trailer just dropped to heighten the anticipation even more.

As the trailer opens, cast members Mikayla Matthews and Taylor Frankie Paul detail how they were raised to be traditional Mormon wives by getting married and having children at young ages (as Matthews reveals, occurring to her at age 16) followed by Paul matter-of-factly interjecting with “f— that!”

When Paul explains in the trailer that she created the popular #MomTok group of Mormon wives on TikTok, the much-talked-about swinging scandal is discussed, as friendships are said to be fractured and marriages on the brink of divorce as a result. “Online it looks like we’re all the bestest of friends, but we’re not,” cast member Whitney Leavitt proclaims of the drama among the women on the show.

Premiering on Friday, Sept. 6, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will follow eight Mormon mom influencers in the aftermath of the 2022 swinging sex scandal that made international headlines, according to a previous news release.

Paul shocked the #MomTok community in June 2022 when she revealed that she and her husband, Tate Paul, were getting a divorce after “soft swinging” with her friend group — referring to being intimate outside their marriage, with restrictions.

In addition to Paul, Matthews, and Leavitt, the eight-episode series will also feature TikTok stars Demi Engemann, Jennifer Affleck, Jessi Ngatikaura, Layla Wessel, and Mayci Neeley.

Paul announced her divorce from Tate during a May 2022 livestream, in which she also discussed their “soft-swinging” lifestyle and seemingly implicated some other #MomTok influencers in the process.

The couple had agreed that they wouldn’t “go all the way,” but Paul admitted she “did step out of that agreement,” leading to the divorce.

That July, Paul introduced her new boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, appearing with him in a TikTok as the guy she “cheated with.”

Produced by Jeff Jenkins Productions (Bling Empire, My Unorthodox Life) in association with 3BMG and Walt Disney Television Alternative, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will explore the women’s new lives after their sisterhood was “shaken to its core.”
