Motley Crue Covers ‘Fight for Your Right’ on ‘Cancelled’ EP

Motley Crue has unveiled a cover of the Beastie Boys’ classic, “Fight for Your Right”, ahead of the release of their new Cancelled EP. You can listen to it below.

Cancelled is the first Motley Crue project featuring John 5 on guitar, replacing Mick Mars. Over the past year, they have been regularly performing “Fight for Your Right” during their live shows.

“Fight for Your Right” is the second track revealed from the three-song EP, following the original song “Dogs of War” which was released in April. The EP will also include its title track, “Cancelled”, which the band teased on social media. The complete EP is set to drop on October 4 and is now available for preorder.

Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee shared on a podcast last year that the band was motivated to create the song “Cancelled” because they have never faced cancellation themselves despite their controversial history.

“There was an article asking how Motley Crue managed to avoid being cancelled, and we thought, ‘We need to write a song about that because it never happened to us,'” Lee mentioned. “We managed to evade whatever threshold was out there, where we got away with a lot.”

Bassist Nikki Sixx reflected a similarly rebellious sentiment when talking about “Dogs of War” in a recent interview. “Our lives have often felt like a constant battle, with people trying to end our careers. The fun part about the video is that you can’t seem to kill us. Even in the face of death, we snort our own ashes and come back,” he said.
