The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards have been rescheduled due to the upcoming U.S. presidential debate.

Originally set for Sept. 10, the VMAs will now air live on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. Eastern from the UBS Arena on New York’s Long Island. This change comes after ABC News confirmed that both Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump had agreed to participate in a debate on the originally planned VMA date.

On Tuesday, MTV announced the nominees for 2024. Taylor Swift leads this year’s VMA nominations with a total of 10. She received eight of these nods for her “Fortnight” music video, along with nominations in the artist of the year and best pop categories. Swift’s “Fortnight” collaborator, Post Malone, is close behind with nine nominations, including one for his country hit “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen.

The artist of the year category is particularly competitive this year, featuring nominees Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny, Eminem, Sabrina Carpenter, and SZA alongside Taylor Swift.

Swift had a stellar performance at last year’s VMAs, taking home nine awards, which brought her career total to 23. This places her just behind Beyoncé, who has 28 awards (two with Destiny’s Child), and ahead of Madonna and Lady Gaga, who have 20 and 19 awards respectively.

Other artists with multiple nominations include Grande, Carpenter, and Eminem, each with six. Megan Thee Stallion and SZA have five nominations each. Following them, Blackpink’s LISA, Olivia Rodrigo, and Teddy Swims have secured four nominations each.

Fans can currently vote across 15 gender-neutral categories online, with voting ending on Aug. 30. However, voting in the best new artist category will continue throughout the live show.

This year’s VMAs will also feature several performances. Fans can look forward to seeing Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, and Camila Cabello take the stage.
