My Hero Academia is no stranger to the world of baseball. In 2022, Deku and his fellow students at UA Academy participated in a “friendly” confrontation that took them away from battling All For One and the League of Villains to play ball instead. My Hero Academia: Hero League Baseball was a special episode that deviated from many of the adventures anime fans are accustomed to. Now, it looks like the superhero shonen series is taking things to the next level. In partnership with MLB’s Texas Rangers, Deku and the gang will be part of a special event in Texas this fall.

If you missed the chance to catch this unique installment of the anime where young crime fighters find themselves on a baseball diamond, it’s available for streaming on Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll describes the OVA special as follows: “HLB stands for ‘Hero League of Baseball’ – a baseball league founded by pro-heroes who love the sport! It’s game day! The final game of the HLB championship is between Gang Orca and Shishido’s two rival agencies. They form teams, ‘Orcas’ and ‘Lionels,’ to compete. In the world of HLB, there are no rules – using their quirks is, of course, accepted. However, as the game nears its conclusion, a villain disrupts the action. Who will come out on top in the HLB!?”

If you’re keen to know more about the event, you can visit the official Texas Rangers’ website. Here’s how the Major League Baseball team describes this special anime-themed night: “Immerse yourself in the world of heroes at Globe Life Field with our first-ever My Hero Academia night! Theme Night tickets purchased through this offer will include a co-branded My Hero Academia/Texas Rangers jersey.”

The anime is currently in the midst of its seventh season but is expected to end soon. Following Deku and his friends for ten years, creator Kohei Horikoshi only has a few chapters left before we bid farewell to UA Academy.
