Nathan Fillion, the star of “The Rookie,” has thrilled fans with an exciting announcement. On Tuesday, the beloved actor took to Instagram to share an official headshot. He wrote, “Question- Will I be at DRAGON CON in ATLANTA, GA on AUG 30-SEP 1? Answer- Yes. Yes, I will. Another question- Will YOU?”

This announcement triggered an enthusiastic response from fans, many of whom flooded the comments section. One fan wrote, “See you there Captain,” while another shared, “This post is the only thing that has ever made me want to go to Dragon Con.” Others expressed their excitement by stating that they are attending the event specifically to meet Nathan.

At 53, Nathan Fillion is busier than ever. Recently, he has been promoting his new indie film, Skincare. This film marks his second collaboration with Elizabeth Banks. On August 20, the duo posted a joint announcement on Instagram, with the caption: “18 years later…Have you seen the #Slither reunion #SkincareMovie yet??”

Nathan and Elizabeth, aged 50, initially met in 2006 on the set of James Gunn’s horror film Slither. Their latest project, however, tackles a different genre. Skincare is loosely based on the true story of Dawn DaLuise, a celebrity facialist involved in a murder-for-hire plot against a rival. The movie is currently available in US theaters.

The film’s logline reads, “A celebrity aesthetician in Hollywood becomes convinced a rival is out to sabotage her business and destroy her life.” Elizabeth Banks leads the cast as Hope Goldman, while Nathan plays a charismatic talk show host. Other notable cast members include Lewis Pullman, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Luis Gerardo Méndez, and Medalion Rahimi.

Among the many projects Nathan is juggling, Skincare’s premiere comes on the heels of his busy filming schedule for the seventh season of The Rookie. The new season is set to release in January 2025.

Fans can expect Nathan back in his beloved role as John Nolan. The upcoming season will feature 18 episodes and introduce two new cast members: Deric Augustine from Shameless and Broadway star Patrick Keleher.

However, one familiar face will be missing from season seven. Tru Valentino, who played Aaron Thorsen, confirmed his departure from the ABC drama. Tru expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, stating he will “always cherish” his time on The Rookie. He added that he is excited about what the future holds for him.

“It was such an amazing opportunity, and I feel so lucky to have had the last three seasons,” Tru continued, hinting at a possible guest appearance in the future. “You never know who may pop back up in the Mid-Wilshire precinct. Until then, 7 Adam 19, this is Officer Thorsen, over and out!”
