Netflix Acquires Thai Hit ‘How To Make Millions’ for Southeast Asia, Sets Date

Netflix has secured the Southeast Asia streaming rights for the hit Thai film How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, with its premiere set for September 12.

The film’s arrival on Netflix won’t just be limited to Southeast Asia. The streaming giant announced that it plans to make the film available in even more countries later this year.

How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies has not only dominated the domestic box office in Thailand but also claimed the title of the highest-grossing Thai film in several other countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Myanmar.

The film centers around a young man named M, driven by the prospect of a multimillion-dollar inheritance. To secure his fortune, M decides to care for his terminally ill grandmother and moves in to live with her.

M is portrayed by popular singer-actor Putthipong Assaratanakul, also known as Billkin, while his grandmother is played by newcomer Usha Seamkhum. In Thai, the film’s title is Lahn Mah, which translates to “grandma’s grandchild.”

Produced by GDH 559, the movie was penned by Thodsapon Thiptinnakorn and Pat Boonnitipat.

This marks Boonnitipat’s debut as a feature film director as well as Billkin and Usha’s first leading roles in a movie.

The ensemble cast also features Sanya Kunakorn, Sarinrat Thomas, Pongsatorn Jongwilas, Duangporn Oapirat, Himawari Tajiri, and Tontawan Tantivejakul.
