Netflix Addresses Recent Anime and Animation Leak: Full Statement Inside

Netflix has recently encountered significant issues, particularly concerning leaks of several exclusive series, including “Ranma 1/2,” “Dandadan,” “Terminator Zero,” and the highly anticipated second season of “Arcane.” These episodes have surfaced online, causing an uproar among fans and animators. In response, Netflix released an official statement addressing the breach.

In a statement to The Wrap, a representative from Netflix said, “One of our post-production partners has been compromised and footage from several of our titles has unfortunately leaked online. Our team is aggressively taking action to have it taken down.” However, the full extent of the breach remains unclear at this time.

Kass Chapa, an animator with experience at Studio MAPPA, Science SARU, and other prominent studios, shared his thoughts on the breach, emphasizing its effect on animators. “This is our hard work,” he said. “It is meant to be released on its due date, something we, as animators, really look forward to. It is incredibly disrespectful and just straight up annoying. You think you are doing some kind of service to the community but you are not. Studios will only doubt our veracity and honesty. Which they already do, btw. I hope they sue whoever did it.”

Stephanie Sheh, an anime voice actor known for her roles in “Sailor Moon” and “Bleach,” also spoke out, urging fans to avoid watching the leaked content. “I know it’s tempting but please don’t watch the leaks,” Sheh commented. “We all work so so hard to bring you these shows as fast & good as possible. When there’s a leak all studios end up getting punished just in case it happens again. We’re often asked to jump thru expensive & inconvenient hoops.”
