Netflix Developing Spiritual Procedural by Terrence Coli, Steve Leder, & Kapital

EXCLUSIVE: In an exciting development, Netflix is preparing to bring a new drama to life. The streaming giant has secured a yet-untitled drama series from former A Million Little Things showrunner Terrence Coli, Rabbi and author Steve Leder, and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment.

Written by Coli, this new show is described as a spiritual procedural. The story focuses on a group of ancient humans who are sent back to Earth with a divine mission. Their goal is to bring hope to those facing their darkest times and to help heal a fractured world.

Coli, Leder, and Kaplan will serve as executive producers for the series. Kevin Marco will act as the creative executive for Kapital Entertainment. Netflix has declined to comment further on the project.

Netflix has been keen on developing faith and spiritually-themed scripted series as part of its strategy to cater to every segment of its global audience. Additionally, the platform is expanding into the realm of original procedural dramas. One such endeavor includes their upcoming medical procedural, Pulse.

Terrence Coli has a robust portfolio. He served as executive producer and showrunner on the last two seasons of D.J. Nash and Kapital’s ABC series A Million Little Things. His other roles include co-executive producer on ABC’s drama The Baker & The Beauty, and writer/executive producer on Facebook Watch’s Sorry For Your Loss and NBC’s The Village. He also penned the TV movie Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance. Coli is represented by IAG and attorney Melissa Rogal at Lichter Grossman Nichols.

Steve Leder, named twice by Newsweek as one of the ten most influential rabbis in America, is the Senior Rabbi of Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles. Leder, who describes himself as a “Jew who likes to fish,” is the author of five books. His latest book, For You When I Am Gone, became a New York Times Bestseller in 2022. Known for his storytelling, Leder is a familiar face on Today, CNN, and Spectrum 1 News. He also writes a monthly column for Woman’s Day magazine and participates in various speaking engagements. Leder is represented by WME.

Aaron Kaplan has an active presence at Netflix. He executive produces the popular Indian drama Delhi Crime and, through Kapital, was the executive producer for Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet and Merry Happy Whatever.
