Netflix’s ‘Perfect Couple’ Trailer Teases Wealth, Death, and Nicole Kidman

A luxurious coastal setting, a mysterious dead body, quick-cut police interrogations, and Nicole Kidman. It might sound like the next season of “Big Little Lies,” but it’s actually “The Perfect Couple,” an eagerly anticipated Netflix limited series. The show has dropped its full trailer just days ahead of its premiere on September 5.

The trailer centers on the wealthy Winbury family, led by novelist Greer (Nicole Kidman) and her husband, Tag (Liev Schreiber). As they prepare for their son Benji’s (Billy Howle) wedding to Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson), their plans quickly unravel when a body is discovered on the beach. The discovery makes everyone a suspect, and it becomes clear that none of the characters are telling the police, played by Michael Beach and Donna Lynne Champlin, the full truth.

Fans of “Big Little Lies” will notice familiar themes, with several interrogation scenes reminiscent of the first season of that show, in which Kidman also starred. The trailer further leans into a guilty-pleasure vibe with an ironic soundtrack of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and title cards urging viewers to “devour the most delicious, indulgent, shocking show on TV.”

The cast of “The Perfect Couple” also includes Dakota Fanning, Jack Reynor, Ishaan Khatter, Meghann Fahy, Sam Nivola, Mia Isaac, and Isabelle Adjani, adding even more star power to the series.

Based on a best-selling novel by Elin Hilderbrand, the series sees Jenna Lamia, known for her work on “Good Girls” and “Awkward,” adapting the novel and serving as the showrunner. The executive production team includes director Susanne Bier (“The Night Agent,” “The Undoing”), Hilderbrand, Shawn Levy of 21 Laps Entertainment, Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady of The Jackal Group, along with Nicole Kidman and Per Saari of Blossom Films, and Josh Barry.

With a compelling plot, an all-star cast, and a gripping trailer, “The Perfect Couple” looks set to be one of the most talked-about shows of the season. Fans of mystery and drama won’t want to miss its premiere.
