Hip-hop fans are anticipating an impressive second half of 2024 following a stellar start to the year. This week, a South Florida rapper releases a star-studded sequel, a multiple Grammy-winning artist unveils his final project under a well-known alias, and a former duo member debuts her solo album.
Denzel Curry returns with the second installment of the King of the Mischievous South series. The sequel to Curry’s 2012 mixtape is his first full-length release since the 2022 album Melt My Eyez See Your Future. After dropping the single “Hot One” on June 5, Curry announced that the new project would feature several famous names such as Project Pat, Ty Dolla $ign, A$AP Ferg, Maxo Kream, Kenny Mason, and Ski Mask the Slump God.
In other news, Donald Glover returns for one last project under his Childish Gambino moniker with the album Bando Stone & The New World. Comprising 17 tracks, the album includes features from artists like Yeat and Flo Milli. The album also includes the lead single “Lithonia,” which was released earlier in July. Bando Stone & The New World marks Glover’s second album of 2024, following Atavista, a revamped version of his 2020 LP 3.15.20.
Meanwhile, JT from the rap duo City Girls releases her highly anticipated debut solo album City Cinderella. After dropping her first solo single “Sideways” in February, JT announced that she’d be hitting the road this summer for the 21-date City Cinderella Tour. The tour begins in Kansas City on August 20 and concludes in Los Angeles on September 22. Her album will feature collaborations with DJ Khaled, Jeezy, Stunna Girl, among others.
