New Joaquin Phoenix & Lady Gaga Posters Revealed for Joker 2

Joker: Folie A Deux has unveiled some new posters featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. Warner Bros. is ramping up the excitement for the Joker sequel with a moody blue aesthetic that showcases both the pop star and the Oscar winner. Arthur Fleck’s clown makeup has evolved, and Harley Quinn’s iconic look is sure to be popular this Halloween season, standing out amidst the buzz of Barbie, Spider-Man, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Beetlejuice costumes. The sequel to 2019’s Joker sees director Todd Phillips emphasizing the theme of a duet. In an interview with Empire Magazine, Joaquin Phoenix discussed his experience with singing in the film and the accompanying nerves. Phoenix revealed that Lady Gaga was an immense support, encouraging him to “go with what you feel.” For someone who’s not a seasoned performer in this manner, it was both daunting and thrilling.

Phoenix emphasized the importance of portraying Arthur authentically, complete with off-key notes and imperfect phrasing. “Arthur grew up hearing his mother play these songs on the radio. He’s not a singer and shouldn’t sound like a professional. He should sound like someone who bursts into song in the shower,” Phoenix explained.

Much anticipation surrounds Lady Gaga’s portrayal of Harley Quinn. At a recent panel at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, casting director Francine Maisler shared insights into Gaga’s performance, promising that audiences will be astounded. “She’s so good in it, you guys,” Maisler said. “She’s going to blow your mind. It wasn’t my idea to cast Lady Gaga—that was Todd Phillips—but she is incredibly surprising and really good. We all knew her capability from A Star is Born, but this role takes her to another level.”

Maisler continued to praise Gaga’s ability to match Phoenix’s intensity while bringing authenticity to her role. “Joaquin is exceptional, but for Gaga to keep up with him and not be overshadowed by the magnitude of his performance shows her incredible talent.”
