New NCIS Series Premieres in October, Exclusively for Audio

The NCIS franchise continues to expand its universe! In the 2024-2025 television season, viewers can look forward to the flagship series, NCIS: Origins, and NCIS: Sydney, with the Paramount+ original NCIS: Tony & Ziva anticipated to join soon. Adding to the excitement, a new podcast will be debuting as well!

Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch, hosted by Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, launched back in June. This podcast offers fans a nostalgic revisit of the series while sharing behind-the-scenes details and promoting the actors’ upcoming spin-off series. Now, enthusiasts can look forward to another exciting addition—48 Hours: NCIS, set to premiere in October.

Debuting on October 29, 48 Hours: NCIS is an unscripted podcast hosted by broadcast journalist and The Talk host Natalie Morales. If you’ve enjoyed CBS’s The Real CSI: Miami, this podcast will likely become your new favorite. The first season will consist of six episodes, with Morales guiding listeners through real-life cases tackled by Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents.

The premiere episode will delve into the disappearance of Erin Corwin, the wife of a Marine, who went missing in Joshua Tree National Park. At just 19 years old, her body was found two months later in an abandoned mine. Investigators suspected a Marine in her murder. The episode promises twists and turns, including revelations of infidelity and betrayal. It has been a decade since Corwin’s death.

Reflecting on her role as host, Morales shared her thoughts:

“Growing up in a military family, I am honored to be able to tell the stories of those who have and continue to serve our country, and to offer unique insights into the inner workings of the NCIS as they help solve cases. Erin Corwin’s story as a newly pregnant, young military wife is especially heartbreaking. It took the dedication of many NCIS agents to help find her in difficult desert conditions and to solve the mystery of how she died and who was responsible.”

Morales is not new to 48 Hours, having served as a correspondent for the television program. However, this new podcast marks the second time these two franchises have crossed paths. Back in 2017, a series by the same name was launched. It was narrated by Rocky Carroll, known to NCIS fans as Director Leon Vance, and ran for three seasons. At one point, the show was retitled NCIS: The Cases They Can’t Forget. Although the series no longer appears to be available on Paramount+, it covered Corwin’s case during its second season.

48 Hours returns on Saturday, September 21, for its new season on CBS. Stay tuned for more updates!
