New Netflix Releases Coming in August 2024

Get ready to savor every last drop of summer because it’s soon coming to an end! The last full month of summer is upon us, and Netflix will be taking us out in style in August with a jam-packed lineup full of fan-favorite original series and thrilling new original movie premieres. From Paris and beyond, there’s so much to watch in the coming month.

While August brings the final season of The Umbrella Academy, the month also celebrates the triumphant return of Emily in Paris. There’s also the exciting premieres of new Netflix original series A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Terminator Zero, KAOS, and Breathless, while Halle Berry teams up with Mark Wahlberg in the new action-comedy movie The Union.

Release Date: Aug. 1

Wednesday star Emma Myers leads the new Netflix coming-of-age mystery series A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, which is based on the series of novels by Holly Jackson. The adaptation centers on teen Pip Fitz-Amobi, who takes it upon herself to look into an old case about a girl who was supposedly killed by her boyfriend. Could Pip find the real killer? The show helps kick off August on the first of the month with six thrilling episodes. Don’t miss this one!

Sadly, it’s time to say goodbye to The Umbrella Academy. Fans have been patiently (or impatiently, depending on the fan) waiting for the fourth and final season to premiere since season 3 premiered over two years ago. It’s taken some time and a couple strikes to finally land on our watch lists, but on Aug. 8, the beloved series comes to an end with the very last six episodes. See how the show comes to an end and where all the characters land in the series finale.

She’s back and more stylish than ever. Like The Umbrella Academy, it’s taken a bit longer than normal for a new season of Emily in Paris to drop in our watch lists, but on Aug. 15, the first half of season 4 premieres to start the party! (Don’t worry, the second half drops less than one month later on Sept. 12.) The highly anticipated fourth season will take Emily to Italy and celebrate Christmas, all while answering all of our burning questions. Namely, Alfie or Gabriel?!

Release Date: Aug. 16

Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry are two actors best known for their work in the action genre, so it’s only fitting that the pair joins forces for Netflix new original action flick The Union. Wahlberg stars as Mike, a construction worker who finds himself unexpectedly wrapped up in the spy world after being recruited for a top-secret intelligence mission by his high school sweetheart Roxanne, played by Berry. Check out all of the explosive action (and romance?) when the movie premieres on Aug. 16.

KAOS might be one of the most unexpected Netflix new releases of August, but it’s sure to be one of the month’s biggest hits. The new series centers on Zeus (Jeff Goldblum) as he becomes more and more paranoid about his seemingly impending fall. There’s even more Greek mythology chaos in all eight of the show’s episodes, which also star Janet McTeer, Cliff Curtis, David Thewlis, Killian Scott, Debi Mazar, Aurora Perrineau, Nabhaan Rizwan, and more. See it all unfold on Aug. 29!

But don’t think that’s all that’s coming to Netflix this month! There are so many other new releases coming, such as the second season of Rob and John Owen Lowe’s comedy series Unstable, the Rebel Moon director’s cut from Zack Snyder, a new SpongeBob SquarePants movie, and even more big movies, shows, documentaries, and animated series.
