New Order Tops Chart with Their Biggest Hits

New Order helped bring synthpop to the masses several decades ago, and audiences are still listening to their stylized brand of the genre to this day. The band scored dozens of hits in their home country of the U.K. after making it big, and some of those tunes are still popular.

The group is back on a handful of charts in the U.K. in a major way this week. New Order fills 5% of all available real estate on one sales tally in the nation, as two tunes return, joining three others that were already performing well enough last time around to find a home on the ranking.

New Order claims five spaces on the 100-spot Official Physical Singles chart. The band’s catalog surged recently on physical mediums, as fans rushed to support the legendary outfit and push them back to the weekly tallies.

“Blue Monday” ranks as New Order’s loftiest placement on the Official Physical Singles list this frame. The tune is a signature song from the synthpop pioneers, and it remains perhaps their best-known cut. This week, the smash rockets from No. 27 to No. 9, returning to the top 10.

Two other tracks from the same group also mount impressive surges on the roster. “True Faith” bolts from No. 64 to No. 16, nearing the uppermost tier on the tally. Fellow former hit “The Perfect Kiss” climbs from No. 96 to No. 51 on this week’s Official Physical Singles chart.

Two additional New Order singles break back onto the same roster this time around. “Sub-Culture” returns and settles at No. 53, while “Shellshock” reappears at No. 81.

All five singles mentioned have previously spent time inside the top 10 on the Official Physical Singles chart. Only one, “Blue Monday,” has managed to rule. It’s also the longest-charting of the bunch, as it’s now racked up 225 frames somewhere on the list. No other track of the five has managed a triple-digit stay.
