New Princess Diana Docuseries Officially in the Works

Though it’s been almost three decades since Princess Diana’s tragic passing, her legacy remains vibrant. From the impactful Diana Awards to various homelessness initiatives, Diana’s influence continues to resonate. Royal fans can now look forward to gaining deeper insights into her final days through an upcoming docuseries.

Director Emma Cooper is collaborating with EverWonder Studio on a three-part series titled Who Killed Diana?, as reported by Deadline. The network for the series has yet to be confirmed, but it promises to delve into new details surrounding the untimely death of Princess Diana on August 31, 1997. The docuseries will also feature never-before-seen interviews with key individuals linked to the tragic accident.

In a statement, Cooper expressed her passion for exploring legendary women through investigative documentaries. “Just as we did with The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe, we’ve taken a story the world thought it knew and uncovered hidden truths,” she said.

Cooper continued, emphasizing her commitment to approaching Diana’s story with fresh perspectives, new voices, and previously untold information. She praised her collaborators Ian, Jon, and the entire EverWonder team, calling them “true collaborators.”

This docuseries is set to be the inaugural project in a larger franchise between EverWonder and Empress. This initiative aims to shed new light on the shocking deaths of famous figures. Jon Adler, Head of Talent & Content Development at EverWonder, told Deadline, “Emma and Empress Films set a high bar for covering perplexing events through unprecedented access and premium storytelling. We both believe approach and access are everything. This new franchise will not merely revisit deaths of famous figures but will actively drive the story forward with new voices and fresh insight into compelling and complex details.”

It’s worth noting that Cooper previously produced the six-part CNN docuseries, Diana, which focused on Princess Diana’s life and influence rather than her sudden death. According to the outlet, it “re-examines the life of an icon through the lens of modernity: reframing her story to discover the real woman behind the ‘People’s Princess.'”

In a 2021 interview with Town & Country, Cooper admitted, “I have to confess, I’m an absolute superfan of Diana, and making the series didn’t make that any less. For me, as a 40-something feminist woman, she represents what it is to be a modern woman—in terms of showing her vulnerabilities and not allowing them to be seen as weak. She has given the monarchy that legacy, and we see it in her children.”

With this project, it seems royal fans are in for an eye-opening experience, providing unprecedented insights into the beloved princess’s final days and the enduring impact of her legacy.
