New Projects This Week: Post Malone, YG, NoCap, and More

August has been packed with exciting new releases, continuing the trend with some big names dropping their latest projects. Notably, a genre-blending artist has unveiled his first country album, a Compton rapper is back with the third installment of a beloved series, and a former NBA YoungBoy record label signee releases a long-awaited LP.

Post Malone makes his debut in the country music scene with his album F-1 Trillion. Although he has explored the genre through various collaborations, this is his first full country album. The 18-track LP features well-known country artists like Dolly Parton, Luke Combs, and Blake Shelton. One of the standout tracks is “I Need Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, which held the No. 1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for six weeks. In a CBS interview on August 11, Post Malone addressed the backlash he faced for initially starting his career in hip-hop.

Another major release this week comes from YG, who has dropped Just Re’d Up 3, the third installment of his acclaimed series. The Compton rapper first released Just Re’d Up in 2011 and followed up with Just Re’d Up 2 in 2013. The new album features an impressive lineup of guest artists, including Saweetie, Ty Dolla $ign, G-Herbo, Tee Grizzley, and Lil Yachty. Originally slated for a 2017 release, YG announced on social media that Just Re’d Up 3 would be arriving in July 2024, though the reason for the delay remains unclear.

NoCap has finally released his album Before I Disappear, after teasing it for nearly two years. The 23-track album includes hit singles like “Baby Drake” and “Yacht Party.” In an Instagram post showcasing the album cover, NoCap promised that the album would make all the listener’s pain go away. The project features collaborations with Rylo Rodriguez, Quavo, Sleepy Hallow, and SoFaygo, following his 2022 album The Main Bird.

Alongside these major releases, new music from Gucci Mane, Quando Rondo, Diamond D, and others have also hit the shelves this week. The influx of new projects only adds to an already impressive year in music, promising something for every kind of music fan.
