New “You’re Next” Trailer Hypes Up the Action

My Hero Academia: You’re Next, the highly anticipated fourth feature film in the My Hero Academia franchise, is set to debut in Japan in less than two weeks, stirring excitement with a brand-new trailer. The beloved series, currently moving through the climactic final battles between heroes and villains in Season 7, is gearing up to expand its narrative realm with this new cinematic release. The film will bridge the storyline gaps between Seasons 6 and 7, presenting fresh, action-packed battles.

The upcoming movie will introduce “Dark Might,” an evil version of All Might, pitting Deku and his companions against this formidable new adversary. The new trailer teases explosive confrontations, accompanied by the film’s theme song “Homunculus,” performed by Vaundy. Fans can view the latest sneak peek at My Hero Academia: You’re Next below.

My Hero Academia: You’re Next is scheduled for release in Japan on August 2nd, followed by its North American premiere on October 11th. Directed by Tensai Okamura for Studio Bones, the film features Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of My Hero Academia, as both a supervisor and a new character designer. Scriptwriting responsibilities are handled by Yosuke Kuroda, while Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Yuki Hayashi return to offer their expertise in character design and music composition, respectively.

The film boasts an impressive cast of new characters and voice actors, including Kenta Miyake as Dark Might, Meru Nukumi as Anna Scervino, Mamoru Miyano as Giulio Gandini, Ken Uo as Hugo, Yuki Ono as Kamil, Minako Kotobuki as Deborah, Yusuke Kobayashi as Paulo, Michitake Kikuchi as Simon, and Masaki Terasoma as Bruno. Horikoshi has also hinted at the film’s setting, describing it as a post-war, collapsed society, offering a stage for Deku and his friends’ next big challenge.

“It’ll take place after the War from Season 6, meaning that the collapsed society will be the stage this time,” Horikoshi explained. “After having been through so much and learning so many things, who will Deku and his friends fight against this time? What will they protect?! Look forward to it!”
