Nick Cannon Reveals Ex He’d Reunite With — But ‘She Don’t Want Me’

Nick Cannon hasn’t fully ruled out the possibility of reconciling with his ex-wife, Mariah Carey, although he recognizes that rekindling their romance eight years after their publicized divorce might be highly unlikely.

In a joint interview on “E! News” with his “We Playin’ Spades” co-host Courtney Bee that aired on Tuesday, Cannon expressed that he would “absolutely” get back together with Carey. The two share 13-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

“[It would] be stupid if I wouldn’t,” Cannon remarked, cheekily referencing one of Carey’s hit songs as he added, “We belong together.”

However, he acknowledged with some regret that “she don’t want me.”

Cannon and Carey first crossed paths at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards. They didn’t become romantically linked in the media until about three years later, when Cannon appeared in the music video for Carey’s 2008 single “Bye Bye.” By May of that year, it was confirmed they had secretly tied the knot in the Bahamas.

Rumors of marital issues began to surface around mid-2014, roughly a year after Cannon and Carey had renewed their vows in a Cinderella-themed ceremony at Disneyland. By December of that year, Cannon confirmed that they had separated. Their divorce was finalized in November 2016.

That same year, Cannon went on record about his aversion to remarrying. Speaking to DuJour, he stated, “There’s like a 50/50 chance of a marriage working. If it didn’t work out for you the first time, and you still survived it, you probably shouldn’t do it again.”

Since their separation, both Cannon and Carey have moved on with their lives. Besides Moroccan and Monroe, Cannon has welcomed an additional 10 children with five different women. Carey, meanwhile, split from her boyfriend of seven years, Bryan Tanaka, in December.

In his “E! News” interview, Cannon humorously mentioned that raising “a whole baseball team” of kids makes it highly unlikely he’ll reunite with Carey.

“Like, ‘No, you can’t come back home,’” he joked, adding that Carey and the other five mothers of his children get along “amazingly.”

Though Carey hasn’t publicly commented on Cannon’s latest remarks, she previously dismissed a reporter’s question from TMZ in 2019 about whether she would consider remarrying her ex. Her response was curt: “What is he, my last hope?”
