Nipsey’s Brother Reveals Protocol Failures During Rapper’s Murder

Nipsey Hussle’s brother, Blacc Sam, has unveiled that proper security protocols were not adhered to on the day his brother was tragically murdered in March 2019.

In an interview that aired on Friday (Aug. 9), radio personality Big Boy sat down with Nipsey Hussle’s older brother, Blacc Sam, for his Off Air series on YouTube. Sam, whose real name is Sam Asghedom, delved into various aspects of his life, including his upbringing and the establishment of The Marathon Clothing Smart Store in Crenshaw, among other topics.

At around the 1:10-minute mark in the video, Sam candidly discussed the moment he received the shocking news of Nipsey’s murder and shared his thoughts on the events leading up to that fateful day. The 42-year-old businessman asserted that a lapse in security protocol at the Marathon Clothing store enabled the shooter, Eric Holder, to execute his plan against Nipsey.

“When someone arrives at the shop, they know we are in the doorway,” Sam explained to Big Boy. “When Hussle pulls up, we’re in the doorway. You’ll see me with a hoodie on, and I have a pistol. You’ll see one of my team members in a hoodie in the doorway with a pistol. That’s protocol when Hussle is on site. So, it’s a busy Sunday in there.”

“Why didn’t anyone follow the protocol? I wasn’t there,” he continued. “Maybe they were distracted, helping a customer, engaging in customer service. This is what I’m thinking as they were trying to transition into legitimate business, just selling clothes. But nobody was in the doorway.”

Blacc Sam maintains that the murder was premeditated and believes Holder acted under orders from someone higher up.

“From what I understand, the guy initially walked up without a shirt to survey the scene because he knew what was happening in that parking lot,” he detailed. “He likely saw no one in the doorway, noted Hussle was wearing shorts, checked everyone else, and left. They say he returned wearing a red shirt, tiptoed through the alley, then came right back and started shooting.”

“To me, that’s premeditated. There’s no red shirt in the hood. You can’t buy a red shirt…when someone comes through an alley with a red shirt, it’s a diversion, or the Bloods did it,” he added.

“I felt he was supposed to do a job or someone sent him, and he was nervous,” Sam elaborated. “He was supposed to hit that alley with the red shirt immediately. He didn’t do that.”

Nipsey Hussle’s killer, Eric Ronald Holder, Jr., has since been sentenced to serve 60 years to life in prison.

On February 22, 2023, Holder was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison for the murder of Nipsey Hussle. The judge’s breakdown of the sentencing included 25-to-life on the murder count, an additional 25-to-life for using a firearm in the commission of the murder, and 10 years for shooting two other men on the day of the incident.

Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot on March 31, 2019. Prosecutors argued that Holder shot Nipsey at least 10 times following an altercation in front of the Marathon Clothing store. In the process, two bystanders were also wounded.

Two days later, Holder was apprehended in Bellflower, a suburb of Los Angeles, California. He was charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Witness accounts indicate that the shooting was prompted by Holder confronting Nipsey about allegations that Nipsey had labeled Holder an informant.
