No Chance of Royal Family Reconciling with Meghan Markle During U.K. Trip

Since stepping down from their roles as working royals, Prince Harry has made several trips back to the United Kingdom for key events. These include Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, his grandparents’ funerals, a number of court appearances, King Charles’ coronation, a brief visit after his father’s cancer diagnosis, and an Invictus Games ceremony.

His wife, Meghan Markle, has accompanied him on fewer occasions. She was there for the Platinum Jubilee and Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022, but she skipped the 2023 coronation and the 2024 Invictus Games. Reports suggest Meghan will return to England for a major trip planned for 2027.

Several experts believe Meghan’s sporadic visits will not heal the rift with the royal family.

When Prince Harry travels to Birmingham in 2027 for the Invictus Games, it is assumed Meghan will join him, as she has always attended these events with him. Royal author Christopher Andersen believes there is no chance Meghan will miss the Invictus Games. He suggests she will likely attend briefly but without their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

On the other hand, royal expert Hilary Fordwich strongly believes there is “zero chance” of a reconciliation between Meghan and her in-laws when she returns. Fordwich recalls Prince Harry writing in his memoir “Spare” that his brother William described Meghan as difficult, rude, and abrasive—traits not appreciated by the British public. The royal family, according to Fordwich, sees no reason to change their feelings towards Meghan.

When Meghan last spent time with the family in the UK, during events leading up to Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral, there was noticeable tension between her and the senior royals. Rebecca English, a Daily Mail editor, observed the dynamics among the family members during these events. Camilla, Kate, and Sophie displayed comfortable body language with one another, while Meghan appeared distant, creating a space that spoke volumes about the underlying issues. This awkwardness in posture highlighted the deep rift existing between Meghan and the rest of the royal family.

Four years might seem like a long time for potential reconciliation, but no one from either side has made any move towards mending relationships. If the past interactions are any indication, Meghan’s return in 2027 is unlikely to involve family reunions.

The ongoing rift remains clear, as depicted by the physical and emotional distance observed during the last family gathering. Even without prior knowledge of their history, it was apparent there was something amiss between Meghan and the senior royals.
