No Season 3 of World’s Toughest Test in 2024

FOX has a packed schedule for viewers this fall, kicking off with an NFL doubleheader on Sunday, Sept. 8, followed by the series premiere of the new animated show Universal Basic Guys. However, fans of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test will need to be patient.

Initially, the network had announced that the celebrity social experiment would start its third season on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET following new episodes of Hell’s Kitchen. But recent premiere dates reveal that the show won’t be returning until 2024. FOX confirmed this in a press release, indicating that the series is being held for midseason.

No specific reason was given for this change, but it’s likely that FOX wants to pair Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test with a more suitable lead-in. While Hell’s Kitchen features intense culinary challenges, it’s a cooking competition rather than a survival or endurance series.

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test challenges participants to undergo the rigorous and often torturous selection process experienced by real-life Special Forces. Although it can be described as hellish, its audience is likely different from that of a cooking competition.

To fill the Thursday time slot, FOX has slotted Crime Scene Kitchen season 3 as a replacement, which will premiere with Hell’s Kitchen season 23 on Thursday, Sept. 26. Looking ahead to midseason, the network’s new survivalist competition series, Extracted, is the most likely candidate to pair with Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test in 2025.

While not much is known about Extracted, it has been described as “groundbreaking” due to its unique concept. Unlike typical competition series where contestants have some control over the challenges, Extracted will reportedly take “destiny” out of their hands. Although details are scarce, it’s clear that this new show will offer something unexpected.

Rumor has it that Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test season 3 began filming in May. Although no cast members have been officially announced, there is speculation about participants based on social media posts. This hints that FOX is preparing for another intense and captivating season.
