Noel and Liam Gallagher Announce Oasis Reunion After 15-Year Hiatus

LONDON – British rock band Oasis announced on Tuesday that they would reunite after a 15-year hiatus. The reunion will feature brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, who are set to perform a series of live shows in the United Kingdom next year.

The band’s debut album, “Definitely Maybe,” was released 30 years ago. Oasis disbanded in 2009 when lead guitarist and primary songwriter Noel Gallagher stated he could no longer work with his brother, frontman Liam Gallagher.

“This is it, this is happening,” the band revealed on X, with the announcement that tickets would go on sale on Saturday. Their first show is scheduled for July 4, 2025, in Cardiff, Wales.

Oasis is set to perform a total of 14 gigs across Cardiff, Wales, Manchester, England—where they formed in 1991—London, Edinburgh, Scotland, and Dublin. This domestic leg is just the beginning of what promises to be a worldwide tour. As of now, United States dates have not been announced.

“The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised,” the band stated on their official website.

The official announcement was preceded by a weekend of speculation about the reunion. This caused a 160% spike in global streaming on Spotify over a two-hour period on Monday compared to the previous week, according to the music streaming platform.

The 2025 tour will also coincide with the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ second album, “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”—an album that includes hits like “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and “Wonderwall.”

When “Roll with It” was released from the album in August 1995, it put Oasis in direct competition with rival band Blur’s “Country House” for the top spot on the charts—a battle avidly followed by the media. Blur eventually won the number-one position.

“(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” went on to sell over 22 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling album of the 1990s in Britain and serving as the band’s major breakthrough in the U.S.

The Gallagher brothers often clashed during the band’s tours in the 1990s, and their feuds continued even after Oasis disbanded.

“He thinks he’s the man and I think I’m the man, do you know what I mean?” Liam Gallagher told reporters in 2017.
