Noel Gallagher Smiles in BTS Photos with Brother Liam After Reconciling

Behind-the-scenes images of Oasis reveal the Gallagher brothers smiling as they gear up for their much-anticipated reunion tour.

The newly-released black-and-white photo captures Noel laughing next to his brother Liam, who looks directly at the camera.

On Tuesday, August 27, the British rock band announced their long-awaited reunion. The Gallaghers are set to play 17 shows across London, Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Dublin as part of their 2025 comeback tour.

The positive nature of the image is a welcome change for fans who haven’t seen the brothers together since they disbanded in 2009 after a heated backstage argument.

The Gallagher brothers’ relationship had been rocky even before their split. Their professional bond was deteriorating leading up to their last concert, featuring regular quarrels, physical fights, and onstage disagreements.

Much of their animosity dates back to their teenage years, sharing a bedroom at their parents’ home. In the Oasis documentary Supersonic, Liam recalls a time when he came home drunk and urinated on Noel’s stereo. “I think that’s where the grudge started,” he said.

In 2009, Noel explained his reasons for quitting, citing his brother’s “verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family and friends.” Following this, Oasis saw a 15-year hiatus and the temporary end of the band.

Noel once said, “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.” He later claimed that an argument over the promotion of Liam’s Pretty Green merch line ended with Liam throwing fruit and wielding a guitar “like an axe” dangerously close to his face. This incident prompted Noel to quit.

After Noel’s departure, the rest of Oasis, including Liam, performed under the name Beady Eye until 2014.

Noel continued to criticize his brother, saying in 2015 that he would “never forgive” Liam for often abandoning gigs at the last minute.

He also accused Liam of being “obsessed” with him. Liam responded by being vocal on social media, sometimes publicly insulting Noel online.

In 2017, Liam began his solo career and dismissed the idea of reuniting Oasis. “[Working with Noel] bores the death out of me,” he said, adding that the two hadn’t been in contact for years.

Hints of reconciliation had emerged over the years, but it’s only now that they have come to fruition.

During a set at Reading Festival 2024, Liam dropped several hints about an Oasis reunion, dedicating the track “Half The World Away” to Noel. The gig concluded with a date and time reveal, later confirmed by both brothers on social media.

At 8 am on Tuesday, August 27, both Liam and Noel announced the reunion, stating: “This is it, this is happening.”

In the announcement, they clarified that there had been “no great revelatory moment,” but rather “the gradual realization that the time is right.”
