Normani Accused of Not Crediting Songwriters on Debut Album ‘Dopamine’

After several frustrating delays, Normani’s long-awaited debut solo studio album, Dopamine, has finally been released. However, the journey to its release hasn’t been without controversy. The “All Yours” singer is now facing accusations related to the production credits of her tracks.

Recording artist, songwriter, and producer Tayla Parx has claimed that she was excluded from the production credits for the track “Insomnia.” Tayla voiced her frustration on X (formerly known as Twitter) by reposting a clip from Normani’s June appearance on the Zach Sang Show. In her post, Tayla expressed her astonishment and disappointment.

“It’s crazy ’cause I haven’t listened to the album yet,” she wrote. “And this is how I’m finding out I’m on it. No credit. No business done. People that I’ve known forever. Just dropped my sh*t and left me off LOL okayyy.”

Interestingly, as of today (July 16), Tayla’s name does appear in the credits tab on Spotify as a contributing songwriter. This has raised the question of whether her initial omission was a temporary technical issue.

During the Zach Sang Show interview, both Normani and Sang spoke highly of Tayla’s talents. “Tayla Parx is one of the greatest songwriters… She’s an icon,” said Sang.

Normani echoed this sentiment, adding, “I know. I miss her. I haven’t seen her in ages… Yeah, she really is.”

Normani’s appearance on the Zach Sang Show sparked interest not only for the insights she shared but also for the palpable respect and admiration she holds for Tayla Parx.

Dopamine is now out via RCA Records, marking a significant milestone in Normani’s career.
