Oasis Reunion Confirmed: Liam and Noel Gallagher Mend 15-Year Rift

Oasis fans, rejoice! The iconic rock band has officially announced a long-anticipated reunion, marking their first UK and Ireland shows in 16 years.

After over a decade of rumors, brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher appear to have mended their longstanding rift. They will be sharing the stage for the “Oasis Live 25” tour, featuring a series of stadium performances in Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin during the summer of 2025.

Just hours before the announcement, Liam Gallagher, 51, hinted at his return as frontman, teasing fans who were eager for confirmation.

The tour will feature four nights at Heaton Park in the band’s hometown of Manchester between July 11 and 20, followed by four shows at Wembley Stadium in London from July 25 to August 3. The current schedule leaves room for potential additional dates.

This reunion news comes just in time for the 30th anniversary of “Definitely Maybe,” the band’s record-breaking debut album featuring hits like “Supersonic” and “Live Forever.” Next year will also mark the 30th anniversary of “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”, one of the best-selling albums by a British act.

In a statement, the band announced: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

Speculations suggest the shows could be worth up to £50 million. Rumors of a Glastonbury 2025 headline performance remain unconfirmed, with festival organizers typically revealing headliners closer to the event date. There is also no indication of new music from the band.

Oasis, formed in Manchester in 1991, became one of the most influential bands of the era, standing tall among Britpop peers like Blur, Pulp, and Suede. All seven of their studio albums topped the charts, translating their success into massive ticket sales, including the iconic Knebworth shows in 1996 where 125,000 fans attended each night. They headlined Glastonbury twice, in 1995 and 2004, and collected six Brit Awards and two Ivor Novellos.

Known for their defining Nineties anthems and headline-worthy antics, Oasis was adored for their massive stadium shows. Liam was the swaggering, hot-headed frontman with a powerful stage presence, while Noel was the stoic songwriter and guitarist.

However, the tumultuous relationship between the Gallagher brothers led to the band’s demise. Their career was marred by bickering and physical confrontations. Notoriously, Noel once attacked Liam with a cricket bat during the recording of their second album.

Both brothers frequently walked out on shows and took jabs at each other in interviews. In a 2009 Q magazine interview, Noel likened Liam to “the angriest man you’ll ever meet… he’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”

The final showdown occurred at the Rock-en-Seine festival in Paris, where Liam allegedly wielded Noel’s guitar “like an axe.” Noel subsequently quit, citing an inability to work with Liam any longer.

In their solo careers, both brothers took to social media for verbal jousting, with Liam frequently mocking Noel. However, in recent years, Liam’s tone has softened, and Noel reciprocated by recently praising his brother’s stage presence. He jokingly said, “Liam’s [voice] is 10 shots of tequila on a Friday night, mine’s half a Guinness.”
