Oliver Hudson shares mishap before daughter Rio’s first school day in photo

Oliver Hudson may be glad that summer and its sunny days are ending. With Labor Day weekend upon us, it seems the actor, whose mother is Goldie Hawn, took full advantage of the last stretch of summer, as he ended up with a sunburn just before his ten-year-old daughter Rio’s first day back at school.

The former “The Cleaning Lady” star is based in California with his wife Erinn Bartlett and their two older children, Wilder, 16, and Bodhi, 13, besides Rio. The family often spends a significant part of their summer in Aspen as well.

In light of Rio’s back-to-school day and his sunburn mishap, Oliver shared a charming selfie on Instagram of the two together.

In the picture, the devoted dad is seated in the passenger seat on their way to school, making a funny face to highlight his new tan, while Rio, sitting in the back, offers a slightly skeptical smile to the camera.

“First day of school with Oliver Hudson who forgot to wear sunblock whilst spending 10 hours on the ocean!” he wrote in his caption, adding humorously, “Oh and Rio’s here too…”

Fans quickly filled the comments section, gushing over the sweet selfie, and, as usual, pointing out how much Rio looks like her famous grandmother Goldie Hawn.

“She looks like your mom,” one fan observed. Others followed with similar sentiments, saying, “Rio is so effortlessly cool,” “Love the camo Rio!” referring to her cargo pants, and “This is too much… She is beautiful!”

Similar sentiments were shared by fans the last time Oliver posted a photo of Rio earlier this month. That post featured another goofy yet heartwarming selfie of the father-daughter duo hanging out.

In the photo, Rio, with Goldie’s signature blonde hair and golden tan, is giving the camera a wide grin, while her dad makes a cross-eyed face. They appeared to be enjoying a breakfast date together.

“Rio Hudson has breakfast with her handsome father,” Oliver joked in the caption. Once again, fans quickly noted Rio’s resemblance to the “Overboard” actress.

Oliver is Goldie’s first child from her marriage to musician Bill Hudson, which lasted from 1976 to 1982. Oliver, along with his younger sister Kate Hudson, has been open about his estrangement from his father. Kate has recently hinted that they are slowly making amends. Their mother, Goldie, has been with fellow actor Kurt Russell since 1983. They consider Kurt their dad and affectionately call him “Pa.”
