Olivia Munn Shares Her Breast Cancer Journey Timeline

Olivia Munn is opening up about her cancer journey and sharing a timeline of the events that led to her treatment. In a new video posted on Instagram, Munn revealed a series of key dates and experiences she encountered while battling breast cancer. She chose to disclose this information to address the numerous “questions about my breast cancer timeline” she had received from fans and followers.

The timeline begins with two mammograms and ultrasounds in January 2022, both of which were “clear.” Throughout the following year, Munn underwent various tests before receiving a breast cancer diagnosis in April 2023. Over the following months, she underwent several treatments and procedures, including a double mastectomy in May 2023 and a breast reconstruction in September 2023. Munn continues to receive treatment to this day. The former X-Men actress mentioned that she wouldn’t delve into each event individually in the video, as she felt it would be too lengthy.

Munn expressed that she hopes her shared timeline will bring some comfort to others who have or are currently going through similar experiences. She emphasized that knowing someone else has walked the same path might offer solace. She also took a moment to thank those who have showered her with supportive comments both in-person and on social media, stating that it “means so much” to have the backing of her fans.

In the video caption, Munn wrote, “My breast cancer timeline. I’ve gotten a lot of questions about this and I’ve wanted to make this video for those asking for a while but I’ve been filming, finishing filming, running after a toddler and starting a new medication. Thank you for your patience and understanding.” She invited her followers to ask questions about her treatment and surgeries in the comments.

Back in March, Munn revealed her breast cancer diagnosis on Instagram, noting that the diagnosis came in early 2023. She shared various photos depicting her journey, including several hospital stays. “In the past ten months, I’ve had four surgeries,” Munn wrote in a post that included a series of slides. She described having spent many days in bed and learning more about cancer, its treatment, and hormones than she had ever anticipated.

Despite the gravity of her situation, Munn surprisingly noted that she only cried twice throughout the ordeal. “I guess I haven’t felt like there was time to cry,” she wrote, explaining that she focused on staying clear-headed and put aside any emotions that might hinder her ability to cope.
